| Appleton & District Brass Band Rules 1904 |

The Band shall be known and called by the name of Appleton and District Band.
- The ownership of the whole of the instruments, music, stands, and all property belonging to the Band shall be vested in the hands of 5 Trustees, 3 of whom shall be elected by the members, and 2 by the subscribers.
- No members of the Band shall have any ownership in any of the Band property, beyond what his vote as a member entitles him to, and on leaving the Band, must give up all property to the Trustees, or their representatives.
- A Committee of 8 members shall be appointed to conduct all band business, the said committee snot to hold office more than twelve months without re-election, but should one or more resign, the places may be filled at once.
- The Band accounts shall be audited half-yearly and the balance sheet available to all members and subscribers.
- The entrance fee for adults shall be 5/- & for boys & youths under 21 the amount shall be fixed by the committee, at their discretion.
- The subscriptions for all members shall be sixpence per lesson.
- Such fines as the committee may think fit shall be imposed for absence from practice or engagements, or for being late.

- The Band shall meet weekly or otherwise as a majority of members shall decide for practice, & at the time of meeting the secretary shall call the roll, & book all who are present.
- No member may play in any engagement without the consent of the Committee.
- The Committee may expel any member for misconduct, for systematic non-attendance, for being in arrears in contributions, or if the shows such a stubbornness to learn that the Bandmaster may consider him not musically gifted enough to become a good playing member.

return all property belonging to Band (if) such a (illegible) shall satisfy the Committee. If the property be damaged he shall make it good.
- The Bandmaster (or in his absence, the leader), shall have complete control over the Band at all practices & performances and any member refusing to obey, or using profane language shall be fined as the Committee may determine.
- The Committee shall refer any or all of their decisions to a full Band meeting for confirmation, if any full meeting of the Band pass a regulation to that effect.
- The Band shall not be broken up so long as there are six members opposed to that course.
- Every member shall sign a copy of these Rules on being admitted.
- These Rules shall not be altered, amended or rescinded except by a majority of 2/3 of all the members of the band. Of which 14 day’s notice shall have been given.
